Refreshing read

Even though this is probably the oldest book on dreams i've read, it is one of the more enjoyable and insightful. I think that the fact that this was written before there were alot of other books on the subject floating around, is part of why it is so good. This is a completley original and personal account of the authors experiences, observations, and theories. It doesn't have the impersonal scientific feel that many of these books do. For someone who has already read several books on the subject, they might appreciate the lack of beginning chapters whos purpose is to go over everything one already knows and has read several times at the beginning of so many other books. I also really appreciate that the author is not afraid to disagree with most of the dream researchers of her time, and explain why she thinks so.If you want some fresh insight, tips on gaining lucidity, or a different style of lucid dream book to read, this is for you.I also recomend "Lucid dreaming" by Steven LaBerge and "Control Your Dreams" by Jayne Gackenbach and Jane Bosveld.

"Studies In Dreams" by Mary Arnold-Forster is an excellent first-person account of an active and vivid dream life. I first became exposed to it while reading Dr. Patricia Garfield's "Creative Dreaming", a book that was very useful to me at a time when I was experimenting with dreams and keeping a dream journal. I wanted to go back to the source material that Dr. Garfield referenced, and was very excited when I found "Studies In Dreams" available on Amazon. My copy is a hardcover, copyright 1921, with a stamp on the inside cover identifying it as property of the American Merchant Marine Library Association in New York City from before we used five digit zip codes, so it's physically quite a treasure for me, besides being an excellent read.

The 2012 LRM changes include several enhancements for properties and sequences, particularly in the area of immediate assertions, data type support, argument passing, vacuity definitions, global clock resolution, and inferred clocking in sequences. Enhancements were also made in vector-analysis system functions, assertion-control system tasks, newer assertion statements, and in the usage and restrictions of property and sequence local variables. There were also changes in the interpretation of some operators. The checker, as an encapsulation for SVA, was introduced in 2009 and many significant enhancements were made in the 2012 LRM including module-like programming features with some restrictions. Most of the rules and guidelines for the checker are also applicable to modules and currently supported tools. This update includes details on all these new changes to the LRM as well as improvements to the organization and content of the previous release based on feedback received from our customers.

Great for undergrad course in pathophysiology

I've used both Huether/McCance and the past two editions of the Gould text. As a U of Utah school of med alum, have to be nice to the Huether McCance team as it is a reference quality text that remains, well, reference quality, but for the beginning student in pathophys who may be years out of A and P, just too daunting and detailed. For those students Gould is a much better match IME as it provides some of the most coherent reviews of A and P available anywhere, while providing a solid foundation in Patho. For a master's level class, go with H/M; undergrads I believe are better served by the Gould text.

Avoid if possible- be aware of errors and omisions

My two biggest complaints about this text is that it glosses over complex topics that are NECESSARY for understanding pathophysiology, and that it takes the same disease process/ topic and describes it *just slightly* in different ways in different parts of the text- enough to make you wonder if you are missing information or do not understand it fully. I found myself using other sources/ textbooks for the course. The book wastes space repeating the same symptoms for diseases (within a group)- when that space would be better utilized with more depth. It would be simple enough to say the following diseases X,Y,Z share this common symptomology/ process/ etiology etc. Some of the depths concerns are, for example: How do you write an entire chapter on electrolyte balance/ homeostasis and not mention the RAAS? There is no mention of transcription factors- but that is the target of some drugs, not to mention cell signaling.

There are also errors peppered throughout- some of which my professor stated that she emailed about last year and the errors have not changed. And the Evolve modules that go with the text are FULL of contradictions. My school won't be using it again so there goes my shot at getting some money back for this text.

Great resource

This is my textbook for graduate level pathophysiology. It is not a "fun" read but it is such a great collection of information. I have the study guide too. I would suggest this to any student health professional looking to gain a matter of fact vocabulary and concise understanding of human pathophysiology in the health care setting.

This is an amazing story!! This man is something else, he will not accept anything else then that his wife will be fine and so will the baby. Against all hope he hoped, he realized that doctors and medicine will not help, only Faith hope and Love. Here you have an example of the power of believing and speaking. How he had the energy I don't know.
